WELCOME

WELCOME to the Take Joy Society. We are a group of ladies who first met because of our love of Tasha Tudor's art and lifestyle. We are broadening our focus to include other artists/writers/people of interest who embody Tasha's philosophy to Take Joy in all the good that life has to offer. Here you will find a record of our get-togethers and resources to help you see that the gloom of the world is but a shadow so that you, too, can Take Joy by Creating Joy in your life!

Getting Back Together - June 2021

Finally!  After more than a year some of the Take Joy Society members were able to get together twice this month!  The first get-together was at member Cindy's place in order to see her latest welded sculptures as well as her lovely gardens.  I was not able to attend that day but was able to visit with my husband a few days later....

This dinosaur is one she created after the last tour of her gardens in 2019.....

This time we were treated to her ox-eye daisies interspersed among the sculptures....

Her newest creation is entitled "Looney Tunes".....

That's because it is an 8-piece orchestra!....The conductor's body is an old fire extinguisher that my husband donated to her collection of weldable objects.....

In order to appreciate the details, click on each photo to enlarge it.  You will see the clever objects she used for the various "body" parts of her musicians....

Next we came to her Family Vacation scene "Seas the Day".....

Her husband and two sons loved going to the sea shore in the summer.....

This is Cindy doing the cooking over the fire.....

While her husband relaxes with his book....

The next two photos are her sons enjoying being on the beach....

Of course, you need a Maryland crab in the scene....

As well as sea shells and fish bones....

Her last creation contained the blow torch my husband's grandfather used in his job as a shop foreman for the railroads in the early 1900s.  This sculpture welcomes visitors to the field where she has the cars park when she hosts various groups on their property....

Our next get-together came sooner than expected when Cindy found out that Dollies Tea Room was closing permanently.  There were only a few openings left for this delightful experience so we quickly made our reservations....

Unfortunately, one of our members was not able to attend.

The first two courses were a cold cucumber soup and couscous salad....

Then the feast was brought out.  You will notice in the individual photos of each plate that follows there is no photo of the scones.  That's because they got eaten (by me) before I could whip out my camera....

These are scenes from the room....

One of our discussions was how the past year has or has not changed us.  Everyone acknowledged they enjoyed not being so busy, but admitted they are finding themselves becoming just as busy as before.  Hopefully, each of us will only add back the activities that are meaningful to us.  Getting together frequently, all agreed, is one of those activities!  This means I will be doing more frequent posts now.  If you want to be notified about new posts, please read the following.

ADMIN NOTE:  Blogger hosts this blog and has decided to discontinue the Follow by Email feature.  What this means is you will no longer be notified when I do a new post.  They have suggested we download your email addresses so we can move your subscription to another service, but have not told us what service that might be.  Until I find out more about how to let my subscribers get notifications I will have to email you myself.  Therefore, if you are still interested in receiving notifications, I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment below with your first name and the first three characters of your email address so that I can pull your address from the list and send you an email notification myself.

Take Joy!

Cathy
