WELCOME

WELCOME to the Take Joy Society. We are a group of ladies who first met because of our love of Tasha Tudor's art and lifestyle. We are broadening our focus to include other artists/writers/people of interest who embody Tasha's philosophy to Take Joy in all the good that life has to offer. Here you will find a record of our get-togethers and resources to help you see that the gloom of the world is but a shadow so that you, too, can Take Joy by Creating Joy in your life!

Cindy's Garden Tour

This photo was taken at Cindy's house in February 2016 for our Scherenschnitte Get-Together. . . .

At that get-together we talked about coming again to see her gardens when they were in full bloom.  We were able to do that this week.  You can read about the history of her house and the property at the link above.  This is one of the outbuildings that they had brought to the property and reconstructed.  It houses the equipment for their farm pond. . . .

Behind the house you can see the other outbuilding they brought to the property. . . .

Her now-grown boys would spend the night in the cabin when they were little. . . .

It was quite cozy. . . .

The view out the one window. . . .

This canvas painting lines the underside of the roof in the loft.  It was done by Cindy's father and hung in a restaurant until it closed at which point it was given back to her father and she eventually took possession of it. . . .

In the distance you can see the island in the pond. . . .

One of many welded sculptures made by Cindy is tucked behind the cabin. . . .

Of course, every great garden has a Fairy Tree. . . .

But not every garden is filled with Cindy's great sculptures.  This is the tablescape she did last year for the Museum of Fine Arts event.  You can see it HERE. . . .

Each sculpture in the garden was unique. . . .

Off in the distance was the two-level tree house they built for their boys. . . .

Carol's granddaughters came for the tour and had great fun playing in the tree house. . . .

We brought picnic lunches to eat on the terrace of the first outbuilding. . . .

Cindy found an old chandelier that she put dollar store solar lights in on her patio. . . .

More of her creations. . . .

This one is a self-portrait....Cindy with her welding helmet making a sculpture. . . .

Another view of the tablescape. . . .

See Cindy's sculpture in motion. . . .

Cindy told us about the time she was weeding up by the little cabin when a House Wren kept trying to get her to follow her.  When it kept coming back Cindy followed it down to these bird boxes where she discovered a black snake wrapped around one with its head poking in the hole.  She was able to get the snake to leave, but she doesn't know if she was in time. . . .

Meanwhile down at the pond Carol and her granddaughters were launching the paddleboat.  This is the only way to get out to the yacht anchored in the middle. . . .

The rest of us were on the little island. . . .

They created the island in the existing stream-fed pond.  Cindy started the boxwood hedges from small sprigs. . . .

And, of course, you will find more of her welded sculptures here. . . .

This one is the treasure chest and horseshoe crabs caught in the net. . . .

We took a walk around the pond to get a closer look at the boat.  She uses it as a place to picnic or for overnight guests that don't mind having to take the paddle boat back to shore when they need to use the facilities. . . .

The little girls wanted to see her dollhouse so we went in to see it.  Cindy is also a painter.  These miniature paintings are done by her as well. . . .

Back outside we went out to the road to see the cow tunnel.  The arch is at the entrance now where the cows would cross under the road when the property was still a working farm. . . .

On the other side is another of her sculptures. . . .

We sat on the front porch for a spell near the gardening fairy.  The cool breeze on a hot day revived us for the drive home. . . .

  1. Holy moly! What a STAGGERINGLY creative person is Cindy! I'm sitting here writing & feeling like a COMPLETE LUMP right now. She should let the public tour her place once a week [for a small fee ] & make some $$ - no kidding. There's so much to see, & it would be massively popular in every season. Even Christmas has got to be adorable there. Inside AND out. The dull parts of Winter [after Christmas] can be her off-season - LOL. I remember that tablescape she made for the Museum event - dazzling! Evidently I am missing the Creativity gene. I never get ideas anywhere close to the things she's done. She sculpts, she paints [miniatures no less], she gardens, she builds. I bet she's a good cook too!! No doubt about it, a threat on both the Domestic & Creative fronts! What a day you all had! So nice to virtually enjoy it with you. Take care & hope you are enjoying your Summer - stay cool [if possible] & hey to all the Schultzes!! ❤️🐾🐱🐢

    1. I agree. She does other things, too! Her father was an artist and her brother paints, too.
